About this site
Our web site is for anyone interested
in the True Bugs of the British Isles - scientifically speaking,
the Heteroptera.
This is a free service provided by
the Land Bug Recording Scheme and the Water
Bug Recording Scheme. These schemes collect detailed records
of bugs from people like you, to build-up distribution maps
for the British Isles; and to gather information on habitats,
behaviour, food and seasons. They are operated by dedicated
amateurs under the ‘umbrella’ of the Biological
Records Centre at Monks Wood.
To keep bug people abreast of developments,
twice a year since 2003 we have distributed a free e-newsletter
in PDF file format, Het News. Now, you can download back issues
from this site; also, you can sign up to receive an email
advising you whenever a new issue is available to download.
Our site also contains a variety of
other features of interest to Heteropterists.
You can also find all of the following on our Downloads page
