Biological Records Centre

 These schemes collect detailed records of bugs from people like you, to build-up distribution maps for the British Isles; and to gather information on habitats, behaviour, food and seasons. They are operated by dedicated amateurs under the ‘umbrella’ of the Biological Records Centre, formerly at Monks Wood, but since September 2008 at Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

 The Species Dictionary aims to provide a standard reference for names of organisms found in the United Kingdom. The Dictionary is made up from a collection of over 170 separate checklists of names and other associated information. You can either search individual lists or find organisms by their common or scientific name.

'Recent mode' lists species names for recently added images, select a name to display the image.

The Freshwater Biological Association

It publishes a variety of identification keys to freshwater organisms and has one of the finest freshwater libraries in the world. The Freshwater Recorders and Schemes Project is dedicated to providing support to volunteer recorders of freshwater information.
